Hunter or Hound — which finds leads for freelancers?
They answer different questions. Hunter finds email addresses for companies you already know about. Hound finds the companies themselves — businesses with no website, weak reviews, or a fresh Companies House registration — then finds and verifies the email as part of the same hunt. If you're starting from "who should I even contact?", that's Hound's job.
What does Hunter do better than Hound?
Domain-based email lookup. If you have a list of company domains and need patterns and addresses fast, Hunter's index, confidence scoring, and free tier are excellent and its interface is the simplest in the category. Hound only finds emails for leads a hunt discovered — it isn't a bulk domain-lookup tool.
Does Hound verify the emails it finds?
Yes. Every email found during a hunt carries a verification status — valid, risky, or invalid — shown on the lead card and in the export, so you see confirmed-versus-inferred before you send anything. Leads are also timestamped with when they were found.
